Who I am and what I doI'm a freelance web developer with over 10 years of experience, living in Bucharest, Romania. I build websites, especially "smart" ones, the kind that do more than just give the visitor something to read. I can build online shops, blogs, social networks, cool interfaces, custom intranet solutions, you name it. I also do presentation websites, I convert legacy and outdated projects and offer consulting for hosting, SEO, domain name aquisition and design. |
What my skills areI specialize in "LAMP" (PHP and MySQL on Apache, under Linux), but also PostgreSQL or other database engines, and I can make all these work under Windows and other operating systems. I'm fully versed in CSS, XHTML, JavaScript and all the expected bells and whistles of the Web 2.0 technologies (AJAX frameworks, web services etc.) I do some decent graphics editing and I know my networking, low-level protocols and system setup and administration. |

I follow standards and will make sure your websites can be accessed and used properly across a wide range of browsers. My code is clean, well organized and fully documented. I take security very seriously and I make all efforts to ensure that the solution you receive is fast and efficient. Recent projects[Jun 2008] I've converted an in-house blogging platform to WordPress MU and integrated it and remote WordPress blogs with an existing website. (Client: FrontNews) [Jun 2008] Wrote a WordPress plugin that allows the author to publish sticky featured articles or editorials. Comes with sidebar widgets, user-friendly administration interface and AJAX (as well as fully functional fallback when JavaScript is not available). (Client: CePanaMea) [Jan-May 2008] Content-providing solution built around web services, flexible personalized user experience, opt-in subscriptions, image manipulations and integration with an existing website. (Client: eAstrolog) [Apr 2008] Created full website from scratch around WordPress 2.5: a storytelling repository with a unique and inovating navigation system. [Apr 2008] A series of WordPress upgrades to the latest version (2.5). Many of them were heavily customized WP installations, some as old as 2.0. [Mar 2008] Optimized legacy dynamic website, reducing redundancy and improving control and flexibility by rewriting functionality around a custom PHP library. [Dec 2007] Created a WordPress plugin that automagically adds photo galleries to posts with almost zero maintenance. (Client: TotalAuto) [Dec 2007] Made a database installation wizard for non-technical users. [Dec 2007] Wrote a PHP script that gathers data from HDD flatfiles and generates dynamic content for a website. [Nov 2007] Prepared a WordPress installation (plugins and custom theme) as a full solution for a women's website. [Oct 2007] Used Bash and JavaScript to write a CGI interface that controls a RRDtool graph generator (also written in Bash). [Oct 2007] Invoice generation and management application for a web hosting service. (Client: Elite) [Sep 2007] Several WordPress upgrades from 1.5.x and 2.0.x to 2.2.x. Ensured that plugins and themes pass upgrade well. [Sep 2007] WordPress plugin that embeds XML/XHTML from a remote content-provider. |
